The ESI stands for Employee State Insurance. All the entities should register the ESI when the firm has more than 10 employees as they earn a maximum of Rs.15000 salary/month. The ESI was governed by an autonomous authority, which is Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) according to the Ministry of Labour & Employment. According to the ESIC law, the firm has more than 10 employees that should compulsorily register the ESI, but in some states, it should be the 20 members.

The Firms covered are given below, • Shops • Cinema's • Movie Theater • Medical Institution • Hotels & Restaurant • Newspaper establishments • Private Educational Institutions • Roadside motor transport establishments Hotels & Restaurants are compulsory to offer the service only, not have other manufacturing functions. Medical & Educational institutes are not under the Act in some states. For newspaper establishments, in that no coverage in the Factory Act.
First of all the major eligibility for ESI Registration, which is the establishment should have a minimum of 10 members or above. In some states, ESI should apply for the establishment having a minimum of 20 members. Other ESI eligibility criteria are, Any employee, whose gross salary is up to Rs.21,000/month, can get that with the guidance of the employer. The establishment should register with EPFO. The combination of the ESI is 6.5% of the gross salary, it was divided as, 1. By the Employer - 4.75% 2. By the Employee - 1.75% For Industrial units, there are any chances for injury or health Issues at the business establishments, all employees with salary less than Rs.21.000 mandatorily require to get ESI.

Enhanced Sickness benefits were introduced in 1976 as a measure to encourages the ESI employee to undergo Vasectomy & Tubectomy for the family welfare. If the ESI members interested to get sterilization procedures to have the eligibility to utilize the Enhanced Sickness benefits of their daily average wages. This benefit also provides the recovering period for both Vasectomy (7 days) & Tubectomy (14 days) from the date of admission hospital or date of surgery. Extension of this advantage also for the postoperative complications.
